Community Led Housing in Oxford: Routes to Delivery Research Project (2017)

Community Led Housing (CLH) is about local people playing a leading and lasting role in solving local housing problems, creating genuinely affordable homes and strong communities in ways that are difficult to achieve through mainstream housing.

In March 2017, Oxford City Council received £54k Community Housing Fund (CHF) from the Government as part of a national scheme to support the promotion and delivery of more Community-Led Housing. Using its CHF funding for 2016/17, Oxford City Council has commissioned a partnership between Community First Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire Community Foundation and Oxfordshire Community Land Trust to undertake a research project to explore how community housing could be delivered sustainably within Oxford City.  A report will be available in autumn 2018.

The brief for the study sets out the main elements. For more information contact fiona.mullins@communityfirstoxon.org or tom.mcculloch@communityfirstoxon.org

Oxfordshire Community Land Trust are pleased to be working with partner organisations to steer and deliver this study: Community First Oxfordshire and Oxfordshire Community Foundation

Transition by Design are arranging outreach events for the study:

First event: October 5th 2017,  7-9pm at the Old Fire Station. Book on Eventbrite.

Date: 5th October 2017  Time: 7pm – 9pm
Venue: The Garden Room, The Old Fire Station
More info: Facebook Page   Please RSVP: Eventbrite

This event is open to anyone who is interested in finding out more about community-led housing and local CLH initiatives. This will be a great networking opportunity as different housing groups will be in one room sharing their experiences.

We’ll give an introduction to the research project and there will be time for those involved in community led housing projects to share the challenges that you faced or are facing, and what support you would have liked or are currently seeking.

If you have any specific issues or questions relating to a housing project, we’re  offering a 1:1 surgery session at the event with one of our steering group members. Please let Nadhira or Fiona know your questions ahead of time so we can ensure the appropriate person is assigned to have a chat with you (see contacts below).

Please use the event links on Facebook or Eventbrite to sign up and share. Please do not hesitate to get in touch should you have any queries.
