July Update

Three things: Homes for Oxford update, Oxford Local Plan consultation and notice of OCLT's AGM on September 21st 2016.

First of all we still have no news yet about the Wolvercote Paper Mill site. You may recall from the last newsletter that OCLT had joined with others to form Homes for Oxford (HfO).  HfO made a very exciting bid for the site but wasn’t shortlisted (too little money and the offer was conditional on further planning). You can see the stunning bid document here:

It would have been so exciting to build this in Oxford. HfO is still in with a chance of getting some of the site with one of the shortlisted commercial developers and if that happens OCLT will be involved with some of the affordable homes.

Second, and most important just now, we are writing to enlist your support. Please do your best to influence Oxford City Council’s Local Plan so that it includes policy that privileges community-led housing. The message to get over to the planners is this: we want community-led housing provision on all new sites using the land trust model to lock in genuine and permanent affordability.

You can fill in the Local Plan consultation form online here: www.oxford.gov.uk/localplan

Better still, talk to the planners at their stall at one of the events below:
Wednesday 20th July: 10.00—5.00, Gloucester Green Market, Gloucester Green
Saturday 23rd July: 12.00—7.00, Eid Festival, Rosehill Community Centre and Park
Sunday 24th July: 9.30—12.00, South Oxford Farmer’s & Community Market, South Oxford Community Centre
Saturday 30th July: 11.00—5.00, Grandpont Playday, South Oxford Adventure Playground

Third and final point: this is advance notice of OCLT’s AGM which will be on Wednesday September 21st at 7 pm in Turl Street Kitchen. Further papers will be sent out nearer the time.

We’ll be in touch again soon about the AGM and also with update on Wolvercote. Meantime please feel free to get in touch and look forward to seeing you at the AGM.
